New Scarifyers audio book out now
read by series star Terry Molloy
by Ellis Reed
First of all: if you like radio drama, horror comedy, ghost stories, urban fantasy, or anything like that, and you aren’t familiar with Bafflegab Productions, then stop what you’re doing and go to their website.
They do a mix of Audible originals, shows for UK radio, and their own releases on CD, Bandcamp and podcast. All are very good and most will be of interest to Horrified readers. Once you’ve had a quick look, come back here and read this.
Their most long-running property is The Scarifyers, which is ‘a series of rip-roaring tales of comedic supernatural intrigue set in 1930s Britain, distilling the likes of Dick Barton, The Avengers, The Devil Rides Out and Quatermass into cracking new audio adventures.’ The main series is a set of full cast audio dramas, but they’ve just released a new two hour audiobook read by series star Terry Molloy. It’s called An American Werewolf in Ludlow and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The RRP is £5 but you can choose to pay more.
The plot summary is as follows:
‘Dunning and Crow of MI-13 are investigating an impossibly splattery murder near the Royal Artillery Barracks when they’re surprised by the arrival of a new ally: Special Agent Diggs of the FBI. Diggs has been following a series of similarly savage slayings all the way from Massachusetts and can find only one connection: a squad of American soldiers, recently arrived in Woolwich.
But the Americans aren’t talking, least of all their hawkish commanding officer, General Mason. Does he know more than he’s letting on, or not even that much? Why are MI-11’s military intelligence goons sniffing around the case? And can Crow and Dunning trust their new friend from the bureau?
Sinister intrigue, nail-biting action and pork pies await this uneasy alliance on the trail of AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LUDLOW.
A Scarifyers audiobook, performed by Terry Molloy.
128 minutes.’
To be honest, while you’re on Bandcamp, you probably need to bite the bullet buy their full digital discography. It costs £66.87 (which is a 50% discount) and includes all the Scarifyers, full cast adaptations of The Blood on Satan’s Claw, Charles Dickens’ The Signalman, Clive Barker’s The Hellbound Heart, and many more productions. Enjoy!
