The Last Rite
to hit Prime on 4 April
by Ellis Reed
The Last Rite, written and directed by Leroy Kincaide, will be available to rent or buy on Amazon from 4 April.
The film is a good old fashioned exorcism horror, starring Bethan Waller as a haunted medical student. The plot summary is as follows:
‘A medical student suffering from sleep paralysis finds herself plagued by a demonic entity after moving in with her boyfriend…’
It’s got some healthy buzz around it, and the consensus seems to be that, while it isn’t revolutionary, it’s a very solid example of the form. If you’re in the mood for a scary film about an exorcism, The Last Rite is probably going to scratch that itch very nicely. I usually am in the mood for a scary film about an exorcism, so this has gone right on my watchlist.
