British horror The Kindred out now on Amazon Prime

Not to be confused with The Kindred (1987) or Kindred (2020), this is Jamie Patterson’s psychological drama about an amnesiac woman haunted by the ghosts of children...

Horror fans will want to check out the latest film from Jamie Patterson (Fractured, Caught) which appeared on Amazon Prime yesterday. You can rent it now, or – for fifty pee more – “own” it forever. It stars Patterson’s frequent collaborator April Pearson (Fractured, Caught) and Blake Harrison (Inbetweeners). The IMDb plot summary is as follows:

‘A woman suffering from amnesia pieces together the events that led to her father’s suicide, only to be haunted by the ghosts of children that she begins to suspect were murdered by him.’

Patterson proved his genre chops with a couple of very interesting films, so this one has gone straight on my watchlist. I would probably describe Fractured (2016) as a twisty-turn thriller rather than a horror, but it’s a very good one, scripted by Christian J. Hearn from an idea by Patterson. Caught (2017) was an unusual (but well-executed) home invasion sci-fi horror. The Kindred sees Patterson and Hearn reunited, which is promising indeed. It’s also (at the time of writing) rocking a very respectable 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, and the trailer looks great. Check it out below.

To pass the time during lockdown, I decided to write some English ghost stories, which you can read for free on my blog.
