Trailer drops for British horror film A Banquet
05/01/2022: A trailer for A Banquet – Ruth Paxton’s horror début – is now available to watch on Youtube...
A trailer has appeared for Ruth Paxton’s A Banquet, which premiered last year at the Toronto Film Festival. Distribution rights were later acquired by IFC Midnight and Signature for the US and UK respectively.
The IMDb synopsis is as follows:
‘Widowed mother Holly is radically tested when her teenage daughter Betsey experiences a profound enlightenment and insists that her body is no longer her own, but in service to a higher power. Bound to her newfound faith Betsey refuses to eat, but loses no weight. In an agonising dilemma torn between love and fear, Holly is forced to confront the boundaries of her own beliefs.’
It was written by Justin Bull and stars Sienna Guillory, Jessica Alexander, and Ruby Stokes. With 70% on Rotten Tomatoes – including a glowing 4.5 star review from Eye for Film – this is certainly one to look out for. Trailer embedded below.
