TV premiere of
Book of Monsters
scheduled for later this month
by Ellis Reed
You might already know of Dark Rift Horror’s Book of Monsters (UK, Stewart Sparke, 2018). If not, it’s a horror-comedy with a strong Eighties vibe, which took the amusing approach of letting Kickstarter backers choose some of the monsters and kills.
That might sound like a risky gimmick, but the resulting movie is a lot of fun and well worth a watch. If you haven’t seen it yet, the UK TV premiere is scheduled for Saturday 14 May, 10.55pm on the Horror Channel. Fans of Eighties fare like Evil Dead 2 should set a reminder.
In advance of the premiere, director Stewart Sparke did an interview for Clout Communications, where he revealed plans to shoot a new horror film this summer:
‘Since Book of Monsters, myself and Paul Butler have been busy working on the script for our next movie which will be produced by our studio, Dark Rift Horror. We’re excited to start shooting the movie this summer and whilst we can’t reveal anything just yet, fans of old school, practical effects driven monster movies will be very happy!’
