Watch Ruth Paxton’s

A Banquet

in Glasgow or at home, March 2022

As part of the Glasgow Film Festival, A Banquet will screen at the Glasgow Film Theatre on 5 and 6 March. The first of the two screenings will be followed by a Q&A with director Ruth Paxton and lead actress Sienna Guillory.

The event organisers describe the film as follows:

‘With this intense combination of family psychodrama and apocalyptic nightmare, Scottish filmmaker Ruth Paxton confirms herself as a force to be reckoned with. The recently widowed Holly (Sienna Guillory) is left to care for her two teenage daughters. Betsey (Jessica Alexander) is the oldest and becomes convinced that she has been chosen by a ‘higher power’. She stops eating but never loses weight. Does she have an eating disorder, mental health issues, or is something else going on? The tensions between faith, family and fear of the future create an unsettling, provocative tale rich in subtext and mystery.’

You can pre-order tickets here. If you can’t make it to Scotland, the film will also be available to watch online between 6 and 9 March as part of the Glasgow Film At Home programme, where it will be offered as a £9.99 rental.
